Hydrogen Detection Sensor SGX-BLD1_24V is a Hydrogen detection sensor that measures H2 concentration when different battery leakage occur through CAN communication. The sensor module has to be placed near the Hydrogen storage system or in the battery enclosure allowing to sense H2 gas generated during a leakage or Li-ion battery Thermal Runaway failure mode. The SGX-BLD1_24V solution will allow the Vehicle Management System or Battery Management System to monitor the safe operation of the hydrogen system or Li-ion battery and generate an early warning signal when a leakage occurs or a Thermal Runaway event happens, this so that passengers can leave the vehicle early. BLD1 is a Battery Failure Detection sensor that measures H2 concentration when different battery leakage occur through CAN communication. The module has to be placed in the battery enclosure allowing to sense H2 gas generated during a failure mode. BLD1 solution allow Battery Management System (BMS) to monitor the safe operation of the battery and send an earlier signal during a thermal runaway warning to give time to passengers to leave the vehicle safely.

SGX-BLD1P6

The SGX-BLD1P6 is a sensor module which measures the H2 concentration and temperature for different applications, mainly for Battery Failure Detection and Hydrogen Leakage. Out-of-vehicle applications are also possible. Used as Battery Failure Detection Sensor, it allows the Battery Management System (BMS) to monitor the safe operation of the battery and to send an early warning signal in case of a thermal runaway event, warning passengers to leave the vehicle. Used as a Hydrogen Leakage sensor, it allows the ECU in the vehicle to detect leakages in the hydrogen circuit which could produce fire or explosion and warn the passengers to leave the vehicle. It can also be used in order to check the purge mechanism in the circuit, and to warn the driver to drive to the workshop for repair in case of small leakages. Two modes of operation are possible: • Continuous mode: The module permanently reports the H2 concentrations to the BMS according to the CAN communication schedule. This mode provides the fastest reaction time. • ECO mode: The module wakes up every 15 seconds (configurable), measures and evaluates if the H2 concentration exceed a predefined threshold and reports the BMS consequently through a digital pin (Wake-up). This mode provides the lowest average power consumption (current consumption reduced by 98%).
